Abstract: April’s PTC presentation on test equating given by Dr. Paul Usala will take attendees through the steps for Common Item Equating (a.k.a. Anchor Equating) as conducted for the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Promotional Assessments Systems.  This process determines how scores on one assessment should be adjusted to be comparable to scores on another version of the same assessment when the two assessments share a subset of items (i.e., when some items appear on both assessments).   Attendees will leave the luncheon with thorough understanding of steps for conducting Common Item Equating as well as other matters impacting test equating work.

Abstract: As evidenced by the recent SIOP name change vote, I-O Psychology seeks to develop itself as a strategic, forward-thinking Human Resources (HR) discipline that improves business performance in our rapidly changing world.  As HR organizations evolve, with globalization, technology, and HR Outsourcing (HRO), it is critical that I-O Psychology views business changes as opportunities for I-O Psychologists to contribute more broadly to HR management - and contribute more value at the HR executive and CEO level.  Kevin will discuss recent research and trends in HRO, HR areas where I-O Psychology can contribute more value, and strategies to help our profession “raise its game” to a higher level.

Title: Evidenced-Based Diversity Management: Research Perspectives of Contemporary Problems and Solutions

Abstract: Despite reduction of overt prejudice over the past 50 years, researchers and practitioners attest to the persistent emergence of subtle forms of discrimination. The pernicious nature of this discrimination, coupled with increasingly diverse workplaces, makes it essential for organizations to implement effective diversity management practices. In this talk, evidence regarding contemporary manifestations of discrimination and strategies for its reduction will be presented with hope of guiding evidence-based diversity management strategies.
